Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for these rebates, your home must meet specific criteria:
To qualify for the rebate, the following conditions must be met:

Natural Gas Account: The home must have a residential FortisBC natural gas account. If the property owner is not the utility account holder, a Utility Account Holder Consent form must be completed.

Primary Residence: The home must be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old. Eligible home types include single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, row homes, townhouses, and mobile homes on permanent foundations. New constructions, additions, and garage upgrades do not qualify.

Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted within six months of the paid invoice date. Rebates cannot exceed the paid cost on the invoice.
Dual Fuel System Specific Requirements

Invoice Date: Invoices must be dated on or after July 1, 2024.

System Replacement: The new system must replace an existing gas furnace that is at least 10 years old.

System Specifications: Must be a new central ducted air source heat pump integrated with a new compatible high-efficiency gas furnace.

Installation: Must be installed by a Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor registered with the Home Performance Contractor Network.

Eligible Systems: Must be listed on the rebate eligible product list with an AHRI certified reference number.

Thermostat Settings: For the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island regions, the thermostat or control board must be set to switch over at ≤5°C.

Commissioning: The system must undergo commissioning to ensure it is installed and operating according to best practices. A copy of the completed commissioning sheet must be available upon request.

Sizing: A program-approved heat load calculation is required to properly size the system. Rule of thumb equipment sizing is not accepted.

Guidelines: Installation must follow the Heat Pump Best Practices Installation Guide for Existing Homes and the High-Efficiency Furnace Installation Guide for Existing Houses.

Connected Thermostat: Must be installed by a licensed contractor at the same time as the new dual fuel system.

Exclusions: Warranty replacements and insurance claims are not eligible.
